B.A.M. - Bugs Across the Map

We hear them, we see them all around, and sometimes we even collect them.
Let’s talk about – BUGS!

Our fourth grade technology classes inspected insects that are native to our region. We took pictures with Digital Blue computer microscopes in our lab. The images helped us see the body parts better and make inferences about how special parts help insects adapt for survival. Next we looked at some critters in college ( Beckman Institute's Imaging Technology Group Bugscope * at the Universiry of Illinois). We viewed bugs through their scanning electron microscope from 45x - 32,000x magnification! Students and their teacher participated in an online chat with the experts there.
